{"id":14783,"date":"2026-03-02T23:04:10","date_gmt":"2026-03-03T02:04:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.voluspajarpa.com\/artwork\/feria-material-mexico\/"},"modified":"2026-03-03T23:21:29","modified_gmt":"2026-03-04T02:21:29","slug":"feria-material-mexico","status":"publish","type":"artwork","link":"https:\/\/www.voluspajarpa.com\/en\/artwork\/feria-material-mexico\/","title":{"rendered":"Feria Material &#8211; M\u00e9xico"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of <strong>Feria Material (Vol. 11)<\/strong> in Mexico City, Voluspa Jarpa presented\u2014together with <strong>La Oficina (Madrid)<\/strong>\u2014two works on paper that continue her research into <strong>human zoos<\/strong> and the colonial devices of classification, display, and the production of racial \u201cevidence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Built from <strong>intervened historical maps<\/strong>, the works shift territory away from a neutral backdrop and treat it as a matrix of circulation: routes, sites, and registers are overlaid with <strong>lists of human zoos<\/strong> (year, exhibited peoples, location, country, exhibition) and with <strong>photographs of displayed individuals<\/strong>, produced historically as documents for racial research.
